Another One for the Bulletin Board

From Today's (March 26th) New York Times about libraries and job seekers:

It Has Computers, Gives Advice and Is Free

Love the story about working off your fines so you can still keep borrowing books to get an education and then a job!

Stephen, I was excited to see this article as well today. I've forwarded it to our staff to let them know we're 'doing the right thing'.

At Mancos Public Library (CO), we've been working with patrons for years on ways to get around fines. Our small rural community does not have a lot of money, and we prefer to find any way we can to help our patrons keep using the library.

Often times, you'll see a student washing windows, a mother shelving books, or even a man cleaning out our storage shed! We'd like to see our community IN the library, rather than afraid to stop in because they have a fine.
