Competing for Attention

I love this posting about what is competing for Internet users' attention while they're online.

I was actually surprised at the number of people reading while on the Internet. I shouldn't be since I do that. I guess I'm not that unusual. I read in print and online and search at the same time. And I've always got a laptop arund while watching TV or listening to radio and music. Multitasking, it's not just for ADHD kids anymore!

What's competing for library users' attention? It's interesting that advertisers study this sort of stuff to the extreme and look for the tiniest insights into human behaviour. I wonder what's on people's minds as they deal with life's issues...? How can libraries align with and penetrate that noise?
