Meebo in the OPAC

The truly inventive and innovative David Lee King and the folks at the The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library have integrated an interesting feature into their SirsiDynix OPAC. They have embedded their library's Meebo chat widget into the unsuccessful keyword search results page. Any user who gets no results will instantly see that they can contact a live librarian via instant messaging or the telephone number they display beside the widget. They're also wanrned to check their spelling.

Cool. They put their best competitive advantage - their people - right at the point of need. No training required.

This library is one to watch for great ideas.
