Doing the Video
I've had myself webcast, postcast and YouTubed many times (even sometimes like in Shanghai without my knowledge!). However, all of these have been byproducts of speeches. In the past few months I have met some amazing library folk who have some great talent at making original moving images.
I am always embarassed to see my self speaking on video. I have to get over that.
Anyway, while I was in Perth, Australia, Kathryn Greenhill made this little interview with me:
I think it came out pretty well (once I get over my close up Mr. De Mille.)
And, recently I got the full studio treatment at Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne Indiana:
A Conversation with Stephen Abram at ACPL
Sean Robinson and Kay Gregg did a great job and is producing a whole series of these, starting with their director. Note the arty feel a la the PBS Ken Burns baseball series. Cool.
Hopefully you find this useful. I keep telling people that these are a way to engage with our markets. I have to put my own meat in the game. I have found that it's not as scary as I felt it could be - great interviewers make the difference. It's a risk sharing like this but it might personalize our libraries (and me).

You are such an engaging speaker, the logical progression is to speaking on video. I think you do a great job. I wish I could make a 2.0 documentary. I'd put you in it!
