Marketing on Facebook

The Bivings Report has a good post on "6 Ways to Market on Facebook". Here's the lite list but the post has loads more:

(1) Create a profile

(2) Host an event and post it

(3) Share a funny video or picture

(4) Post pictures

(5) Post news articles

(6) Write a note

Now you know you can't be real obvious about it. But everyone is selling something - including libraries. When we see the Obama's, Hillary's, McCain's and Romney's of the world selling their ideas, image and vision in Facebook and the rest of the social web, libraries have examples to follow and build on.

Hmmmm - can you register for a libray card on your library website, Facebook and MySpace? Who did it first?

Another cool trick is to use the hosted event (2) as a platform for messaging all of one's friends. This works well because you can mass message everyone at once (the invitees) without having to do them one-by-one. There's even a video of it on facebook here http://www.facebook.com/pages/Facebook-Marketing/8292336237

I thought the technique is definitely useful for anyone looking to do any Facebook Marketing.
