Teen Reading

Is it the Harry Potter halo? Can Libraries claim a little credit for this? (summer reading programs et al) Or is this just a smart generation that seeks experiences of all types?

I am thrilled to hear that teens are increasing their book reading these days. I think that the Harry Potter series has significantly contributed to rekindling this re-birth of literary interest. Kudos to J. K. Rowling!! I, myself, am an emerging author and am currently finishing up my first book for publication. I hope to find a market with both the older youth and adults of all ages. My book, "Three Seconds On, Three Seconds Off - Volume I" is a collection of 26 stories about my growing up on Pointer Island Lightstation, a remote lighthouse along the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. I hope the youth of today are not exclusively interested in fantasy novels, because my book is very much a non-fiction look at the adventures of lighthouse life in the 1960's and 70's. If any of you are interested in viewing my blog, check it out at davisbigelow.blogspot.com. If you visit, please post a comment to let me know what you think. Thanks, and keep on reading.
